Big
Train games at Shirley Povich Field are perfect for nights of family
fun in Bethesda! Kids can enjoy the electric atmosphere of professional
baseball right in their own backyard. Every seat at Povich Field
is close to the action, and there are plenty of opportunities throughout
the evening to meet our lovable mascot, Homer the Dog, or even the
ballplayers themselves!
Soak
your Parents!
After the 2nd inning at Big Train home games,
we allow two lucky young fans to take a few swings on the field
– at water balloons pitched by grown-ups! We take two kids and two
adults each game, position them in front of the dugouts, and watch
what happens when water balloons and baseball bats meet. Sponsored
by Chevy Chase Cars and Bruce Variety. To
sign up in advance to participate in the Water Balloon Bash, call
us at 301/983-1006.
Hey
Kids! Homer’s waiting…
During the game, one lucky kid will get to
join Homer for a race around the bases! With a start at second base,
Homer and our contestant try to see who can reach home-plate first.
Sponsored each night by Comcast. To
sign up in advance to participate in Race the Mascot, call us at
301/983-1006.
Help
Homer keep Povich Field looking sharp!
Kids, just listen for the “Treasures for Trash”
announcement around the 7th inning of each Big Train home game for
your chance to help keep Povich Field clean! Pick up a garbage bag
from the concession stand, collect trash, and redeem your filled
bag for a great concession stand treat! Sponsored by Covanta Energy.
Have
your next party at Povich Field!
Povich Field is the perfect place to have
your next birthday party, cub scout dinner or team picnic! Reserve
your spot in the Davis Family Picnic Pavilion for the next Big Train
home game! Have pizza or hot dogs before the game and run onto the
field with the Big Train players during the national anthem! Birthday
kids also get to throw out a ceremonial first pitch when they have
their party at a Big Train home game.
